Exhibition Dates: July 7 – July 25, 2026
Juror: Sharon Butler

At its core, Sharon Butler’s art practice is driven by a deep curiosity about the mysterious interplay between emotion, intellect, and the act of painting itself. In 2007, fascinated by art, writing, and the possibility of new digital platforms, Sharon founded Two Coats of Paint, a blogazine that focuses primarily on painting in NYC.
Sharon has had solo shows at CLEA RSKY (2025), Jennifer Baahng Gallery(2022), Theodore Gallery (2021, 2028, 2015), and Pocket Utopia (2014); in Connecticut at Slater Memorial Museum, Real Art Ways, and Furnace Art on Paper Archive; in Seattle at SEASON; and in university galleries at University of Alabama, University of Connecticut, and SUNY Westchester.
Her work has been featured in publications such as The Brooklyn Rail, Hyperallergic, artcritical, The New Criterion, and New York Magazine. She has received awards from Creative Capital and the Warhol Foundation, Yaddo, Connecticut Commission on the Arts, and the Pollock-Krasner Foundation.
She earned an MFA from the University of Connecticut, a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art, a BA from Tufts University, and lives and works in Long Island City, Queens.
