Prince Street Gallery is located in the heart of Chelsea, next to New York City’s famed Highline. The gallery shows outstanding work by contemporary artists, in both representational and abstract forms, with an emphasis on painting, drawing, printmaking and collage. In addition to shows by artists the gallery represents, exhibitions also include selected guest artists and an annual juried show. Past jurors have included Philip Pearlstein, William Bailey, Irving Sandler, Yvonne Jacquette, Robert Berlind, Susanna Coffey, Lois Dodd, Graham Nickson, Robert Birmelin, Stuart Shils, Susan Lichtman, and Sangram Majumdar.

The history of Prince Street Gallery began with a group of NYC artists, who came together at the Alliance of Figurative Artists. The inaugural exhibition opened in June 1970, in a building at the corner of Prince and Greene Streets. Since then, the gallery has expanded to include abstract as well as representational art. In 2001, along with the Bowery and Blue Mountain Galleries, Prince Street Gallery moved to 530 West 25th Street where it stayed until the pandemic struck. The Gallery reopened at its new location at 547 West 27 Street, Suite 504 in May 2021.

Today, Prince Street Gallery continues to show work of high quality by contemporary artists. Gallery exhibitions have been written about in Art in America, The New York Times, Brooklyn Rail, and artcritical.com, among other publications. Artist talks and other events of interest to the public are held periodically. Prince Street Gallery fosters creative growth to its community of artists and provides cultural exposure to the New York City community at large.
