Bio
Rosen Golden has a successful showing career that began with her first one woman show in Soho in 1982. As a showing artist she is best know for her inviting natural landscapes that create a sense of place with light and atmosphere. The ocean with jetties, the woods, and aerial views are her frequent focus. Her work is influenced by her Long Beach, New York and Seattle, Washington locations. She is in numerous private and corporate collections, and her print portfolio editions are in several museums.
1990 Nancy Grimes wrote in ARTnews, “Her landscapes become intimate theaters in which the spectator succumbs to a mood of quiet reverence in the presence of something larger than himself”. That quote is still true today of Ms. Rosen Golden’s works and feelings in producing her body of work.
Artist Statement
Air and light is frequently highlighted in my artwork and are substantial for the creation of a sense of space and reality. My hope is for the paintings to become a place where the viewer can wander in a personal space that has a truthfulness of place.
Photography is also a component of my landscape painting process. Photographs make it possible to reconstruct the imagery. In the studio a variety of mediums and techniques can be explored that can push the landscape into realism or aspects of abstraction. In either process I want my artwork to be the result of authentic observation.
