Bio

Paul Warren grew up in Watertown, Connecticut. At a very young age he studied painting and drawing with art instructors Eleanor Towle and James G. Hennessey. Paul attended Mattatuck Community College in Waterbury, CT, where he took courses with sculptor Paul Simon. He went on to study at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn and graduated with a BFA (Drawing). Influential professors at Pratt were Mary L. Buckley and Al Blaustein. A few years later, he pursued an MSE (Art Education) at Queens College and then an MA (Studio Art) at New York University. Favorite professors in graduate school were Louis Finkelstein and John Torreano.

Paul has taught color courses at New School University and Parsons School of Continuing Education in New York City. He also taught painting and drawing to children in New York City public schools, Queens College Saturday Programs, and the Brooklyn and Queens Museums. He has exhibited in New York and Connecticut and his works are in many private collections.

Paul’s paintings and drawings have been described as “architectonic spaces that are complemented by a musical sense of light and color.” He draws and paints directly from nature and the work is stimulated by love of color and light – the way in which illumination fills spaces and interacts with objects and atmosphere, evoking time of day, place and season. Mediums: oil paint, pastel, colored pencils.

Paul currently resides in Woodside, NY.
