BonDurant’s work explores landscapes with a delicate balance between realistic and imaginative. Her work brings nuance that draws the viewer into the story of the landscape pushing them to consider how each aspect connects with the other. Her spare, calculated style reflects both contentment in the ordinary, and interest in heightened drama through the use of color, pattern and shadow.
The paintings and collages are a symbiotic relationship each informing the other. Bold, expressive color in the collages influences the pallet selection when painting from observation. The geometric shapes, forms and cast shadows observed when painting create the composition of the collages. The work is a confluence of observation and invention.
