Prince Street Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of Frances Siegel who shows work from a ten-year period during which she experimented and played with various materials and methods such as: drawing, painting, collage and construction, and mixed media. Working from memory and observation Siegel opens the door of her imagination to create works that are poetic and inventive. Her subjects run the gamut from acutely observed portraits and figure compositions to landscapes and abstractions. She is especially inspired by her observations of the shapes, forms and gestures of plants in motion.
Frances Siegel has exhibited in galleries nationally and internationally as well as museums such as: the Minnesota Museum of Art, The Albrecht Museum of Fine Art, the Flint Institute of Arts, the Dishman Art Museum and the American Academy of Arts and Letters. She has had several one-person shows at the Prince Street Gallery since 1978. She has taught art extensively on all levels including Pratt Institute, and the Art Students League of New York. She lives in New York City and the Adirondack Mountains.
