In “What Living Is” Grant Drumheller’s fourth show at the Prince Street Gallery, the celebration of life is definitely ON. Paintings such as Street Salsa and Saturday Morning at Fort Greene Park, with their dancing figures and parkgoers, invite the viewer to experience the immediacy of magic and mythic possibility in everyday work and play. The stars of this show are the people – including his family – observed and celebrated through his experiences in the city as well as in northern coastal New England.
Grant Drumheller has exhibited both nationally and internationally and received grants from the Pollock Krasner Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, The New England Foundation for the Arts, the Colman Award and the Fulbright-Hays Commission to Italy, among other awards. He has been awarded residencies at the MacDowell Colony and at the American Academy in Rome. He is Professor Emeritus of Art at the University of New Hampshire where a capstone exhibition, “In the Garden” was held at the University Museum of Art in 2023.
