Prince Street Gallery is pleased to present a showing of Lynn Katsafouros’ recent paintings.

The strength and wisdom of the feminine are the inspiration for Lynn Katsafouros’ latest work. Each portrait displays a provocative stillness that seduces the viewer to peer into the beauty of the commonplace. This intensity is then balanced with the lighthearted play of cats.

Katsafouros takes particular care with composition to invest the classic elements of line, color and geometric shape with a modern perspective.  She achieves a subdued sense of balance with a palette of muted tones interwoven with intense hues, giving her otherwise quiet paintings a  remarkable strength. These oil paintings occupy a compelling realm between the real and the surreal, offering viewers an evident if enigmatic narrative that engages the viewer on numerous levels.
