Prince Street Gallery is pleased to present Patricia Bouley: STORY, on view from 1 March through 26 March 2022.
Artists throughout the centuries have used motherhood as a metaphor for the world and nature itself. Her story expresses our universal need to nurture and protect as we overcome hardships and share in the joy of our journey.
Patricia Bouley uses the medium of paint, photography, and printmaking to explore both emotional and aesthetic resonance in her work. She shapes her narrative in a way that provokes more questions than answers. Through color, imagery, gesture, and a total immersion in her subject she invites us into her personal world. She shares what’s important…what’s inside her and puts it out there for all to see. Bouley embraces the creative process. She uses the metaphor of motherhood, as a universal connector…a visual umbilical cord giving both oxygen and sustenance. Her daughter’s christening gown, a kitchen stove, family snapshots, and a footprint on cloth…all provide insights that are open to interpretation.
